Our Mission

The Maine Junior Black Bears is a 501(c)3 youth hockey organization serving the greater Bangor area and the towns of Penobscot County and beyond. Their programs are built for every age and skill level, starting with First Strides for skaters as young as age 3, moving through the renowned Learn to Skate and Learn to Play programs, and up through competitive 14U teams. The organization is committed to providing high-quality hockey at the Tier III and Tier IV levels while focusing on values like respect, sportsmanship, teamwork, and discipline, and works to challenge every player to grow both on and off the ice. With approximately 500 skaters enrolled, the Maine Jr. Black Bears are a cornerstone of the youth hockey community in greater Bangor, and your raffle ticket purchase helps keep kids on the ice.

Where Your Entry Helps

Raffle proceeds fund the ice time, coaching, and equipment costs that keep all of our programs running, from First Strides on the ice at Sawyer Arena and the Alfond Arena at UMaine for our youngest 3 and 4 year-olds, through the Atom League and Learn to Skate – Learn to Play sessions, and all the way up to our competitive Tier III and Tier IV teams. Funds also support the gear rental program that puts properly fitted equipment in the hands of new players for just $25, so cost is never the reason a kid sits out. For families who need a little extra help, raffle proceeds contribute directly to the MJBB financial aid program, making sure every skater across Penobscot County and beyond has a path onto the ice.

We will also post the winning ticket number and the winner’s first and last initial on our website within 24 hours of the announcement. The winner will have up to five calendar days to respond.
